DanChurchAid’s performance is based on working with local partners who are generally the best place to learn and assess the context of the area. The collaborative product ensures that our disasters and developments meet the goals effortlessly at the grassroots level and that activities become locally sustainable.
We implement our own humanitarian mine action programs and sometimes disaster relief activities, but usually work through local partners who are often members of the ACT Alliance. Ensuring good quality, capacity building and organizational development of local associates is an important cross-cutting element of DCA’s work.
CHANGING ATTITUDES
Working closely with partners, DanChurchAid seeks to combine advocacy with all of its disaster and development programs:
Our advocacy initiatives consist of lobbying activities, media activities, joint mobilization and alliance building.
GENDER RIGHTS AND EQUALITY
DCA is committed to selling rights-based development and gender equality in its programmes.
The effort to sell the passions and rights of the lowest, many marginalized and discriminated men and women is linked to these core values.
Being accountable to member rights is a really important concern for us.
Our focus on gender rights and equality suggests:
- Promote the political and social probability of poor and discriminated men and women in adapting to their own situation and emphasize the equal use of effective participation and influence in decision-making processes and mechanisms at all levels
- Promote the likelihood and obligation of responsible bodies and institutions to behave confidently and respect the passions and rights of very marginalized men and women
- Actively promote equality for marginalized organizations with a particular focus on gender issues and prevent various types of discrimination against poor men and women
- Support poor men and women in accessing legitimate counseling and justice
- Promote the use of international standards and individual rights mechanisms to promote respect for the rights of poor people
- Ensure that the partners and teams we work with can participate in a dynamic and meaningful way in all decision-making processes related to our working connection.
- Make sure equality rights and rules are linked to our organizational rules and procedures
- MICROFINANCE AS A CROSS-CUTTING COMPONENT
- Parts of DCA’s microfinance are usually built into larger programs and jobs wherever relevant. We feel that the use of financial solutions, or microfinance, is an important tool to reduce vulnerability and preserve livelihoods.
