EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a customer at knife point at a PNC Bank on Sunday.
According to the Stroud Regional Police Department, at 10:00 on January 22, officers responded to an armed robbery at the PNC Bank at 60 Washington Street in East Stroudsburg.
Police said the male victim and his daughter were at the ATM in the PNC Bank parking lot when the suspect approached the victim with a large “knife” demanding “give me your wallet.”
According to law enforcement, the suspect approached the vehicle and grabbed the victim’s arm, causing him to fall from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. The victim’s daughter was in the back seat of the vehicle for the entire incident and was not injured.
Officials say the suspect fled on foot and found the victim’s wallet, but $20 was missing. The suspect is described as a tall man wearing a black jacket and pants and a mask.
In a press release, it was reported that on January 23 and 24, the suspect was found fleeing in a black Ford SUV in several locations where the police had confiscated the robbery.
Police said the same black Ford Edge left the area after hitting the phone, causing damage to the rear-end and a broken headlight.
Investigators said on January 22 at 11:10, surveillance video for a disabled vehicle on Chipperfield Drive found an incident matching the suspect’s vehicle.
On January 25, officers were checking a residence for vehicles when a man identified as Brian Walker, 48, of Stroud Township, walked out the front door, according to the release. Police said they believe Walker was involved in the robbery from surveillance video at PNC Bank.
Investigators said they spoke with Walker and asked him about the Ford Edge, and he said he was interested.
According to reports, Walker owned a large amount of personal property on his driveway and said he wanted to move. As detectives returned to their vehicle and waited for backup, the taxi pulled up to the home with Walker in the back seat, according to a police official.
High-powered regional police said they initiated a traffic stop in the taxi and arrested Walker without incident.
Walker was arraigned before MDJ Muth and taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.
Court documents say Walker is charged with two counts of robbery, aggravated kidnapping, possession of instruments of crime and two counts of simple assault.
